Welcome back to Oslo Spektrum

After just over a year of construction, Oslo Spektrum will open its doors again in September. We welcome the public, organizers and artists back, while construction of the New Oslo Spektrum continues towards 2028.

The further development of Oslo Spektrum began in full force in June 2025, and as part of the construction process, the concert arena has been temporarily closed for events. An important milestone has now been reached: the foundation work for the new building has been completed, and Oslo Spektrum can once again be filled with music, expectant fans and great experiences.

The reopening marks the start of a rich season with both international and Norwegian artists on stage. The public can look forward to concerts with, among others, Deep Purple, Brandi Carlile, Dimmu Borgir, Dum Dum Boys and Emma Steinbakken, before Kurt Nilsen returns with his popular Christmas concert, as is tradition.

For the next two years, Oslo Spektrum will be in regular operation, while the development continues. Already now, the first clear contours of new event areas and the office tower are visible in the cityscape. When the project is completed towards the end of 2028, Oslo will have new arena and meeting space functions that provide space for more cultural experiences, greater flexibility and new meeting places for the business community.

One of the biggest additions will be something that many have missed in Oslo: a new stage that will bridge the gap between the city’s concert stages and arenas. It will be large enough to accommodate major international productions, while the audience will still experience closeness to the artists on stage.

When the New Oslo Spektrum is completed, the goal is to make the area a vibrant part of the city, also outside of the events. Byhallen will be a central part of this development. With restaurants, cafés and areas for culture, events and conferences, it will create activity, meetings and experiences throughout the year, whether you work in the building, live in or are visiting Oslo.

Together with an upgraded Sonja Henies plass, Byhallen will become a destination in its own right and contribute to more meeting places, better accessibility and an attractive urban space in the heart of Oslo.

Ready for reopening in September

The past year has required both the will to think new things and the ability to find good solutions along the way. The efforts of the employees have been crucial to maintaining progress through a time of major changes. When the arena reopens in September, arrangements have been made to ensure that the flow of the audience is efficient and seamless, and that the audience will have a good experience.
